Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. My name is Elyse Jarard and I am a fitness professional in Cincinnati, Ohio. I own a fitness studio for women and girls called Venus. It is located in Montgomery, a northeastern suburb of Cincinnati.
My mission is to inspire women and girls to live healthy lives. I know it takes some discipline in today’s society but it is worth it! I have a strong background in Biology (Bachelors degree from University of Cincinnati). I was involved in Biomedical research as a grad student and a research assistant for over 10 years.

In your recent article in the Cincinnati Enquirer, you mentioned all the things a good calcium supplement will contain. I cannot find one that contains even both calcium citrate and calcium carbonate. Can you recommend a specific brand?

What brand are you taking? I have not looked at all the products on the market (that would take a REALLY long time), but I know that a couple of companies are very reputable.
To answer your question, I used a product called Active Calcium by Usana. Usana is a chelated product which means the minerals are in their most absorbable form (so it actually gets absorbed by your body). You can purchase it thru Venus and I think its about $25 for a month supply. It can be purchased online or in the store.
Another product is Bone Strength Take Care by New Chapter (this brand you can find in Whole Foods or another Health Food Store) and it retails for $59.95. It does not contain boron, but it does have Vitamin K.
I know all this is SO incredibly confusing! One of the reasons I use Usana brand is because I know the company well, know they will put together the best formulation based on research, not on hype.
